J. Leo Turek, P.E., Owner (leo@bruckerengineering.com) 

J. Leo Turek has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Cum Laude, from the University of Missouri at Rolla in 1979. Mr. Turek stayed at the University of Missouri at Rolla for graduate work in Civil, Geotechnical, and Geologic Engineering. He was an instructor in the soil laboratory and an environmental research assistant during this graduate work. He has worked previously for a geotechnical engineering firm doing fill control, pier supervision, and laboratory testing.

Mr. Turek joined Brucker & Associates in 1981. He has done civil and geotechnical engineering, exploration, analysis, and design for a wide variety of commercial and residential projects throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Mr. Turek has done foundation construction inspection of numerous footings, piers, and pile foundations. He has done research and development work for proprietary retaining wall systems. Mr. Turek is responsible for training and supervision of other engineers at the firm. He is also supervisor of the environmental assessment section of the firm. Mr. Turek continues these responsibilities as Owner of Brucker Engineering Company.

Mr. Turek has supervised or assisted on numerous Phase II Environmental Subsurface Explorations, including: Chlordane studies at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, for the U.S. Air Force; Potential dioxin contamination at various residential development sites in St. Louis County; Potential ground water contamination at solid waste landfill sites in Franklin County, Missouri; Groundwater and soil Toluene contamination assessment and successful remediation done at an industrial site in conjunction with the MDNR Voluntary Clean-up Program; Soil lead contamination assessment and Remedial Action Plan for proposed residential developments in the Park Hills, Missouri area of former mining sites; and numerous hydrocarbon contamination assessments, underground storage tank removals and soil and groundwater remediation for underground storage tank sites. 

Mr. Turek is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri. He is a member of Chi Epsilon, the national civil engineering honor fraternity, the American Society of Civil Engineers serving as past Chairman of the St. Louis section geotechnical committee, the National Water Well Association, the Association of Ground Water Scientists and Engineers, and is a member of the Missouri and National Societies of Professional Engineers.  Mr. Turek is currently a member of the Home Builders Association of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri.
